This meeting will feature several nations’ synchrophasor projects and accomplishments, and focus on the use of synchrophasor technology for system protection, wide-area monitoring and situational awareness, and emerging applications for electric distribution. There will be a vendor and exhibit show on the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, March 23.

October Work Group meeting - NASPI held its Work Group meeting on October 22 and 23 in Houston, Texas, in conjunction with CIGRE's Grid of the Future Symposium on October 19-21. CIGRE addressed synchrophasor technology applications on the afternoon of October 21, and NASPI invited CIGRE attendees to participate in the Technical Workshop on voltage stability and oscillation detection on the morning of October 22. Both conferences were held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Houston, Texas.

This NASPI work group meeting featured reports on the successful use of synchrophasor technology in and outside North America, including a variety of user success stories and synchrophasor data applications. The meeting included a technical session on open source software and its design and use in the power industry and an update on PMU testing, performance and standards.  We also had the opportunity to visit the Center for Ultra-Wide Area Resilient Electric Energy Transmission Networks (CURENT), a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center located at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, during the Work Group reception on the evening of March 11.

This NASPI Work Group meeting will feature reports and updates on the synchrophasor-related Smart Grid Investment Grant and Demonstration Grant projects funded under the American Reinvestment & Recovery Act, and the synchrophasor research projects funded by DOE program funds. There will be two technical sessions at this meeting, addressing synchrophasor data quality and delivery and synchrophasor technical standards and interoperability. This Work Group meeting will also feature a vendor trade show on Wednesday evening, October 23.
There will be a $250 registration fee to cover meeting costs, meals and refreshments on the two meeting days; the fee for students is $75. There will be a late fee of $100 added for registrations after October 11 and a charge of $50 for processing refunds. The registration link is WG registration. Vendors who wish to participate in the vendor show on October 23 should register using vendor WG registration.
We are setting up call-in and webinar capability for the Tuesday afternoon sessions (only) of the NASPI meeting. Between Tuesday, October 22 at 1:30pm and 5:45pm, you can listen (only) to the NASPI presentations via webinar (  Join Lync Meeting , or https://lcmeet.pnnl.gov/teresa.carlon/RYJ8RKQM) or via conference call at 866-528-1882, conference ID: 6293461).
